IMPHAL: Manipur Police arrested two alleged insurgent cadres in separate operations in Imphal West and Chandel districts on August 25, recovering an INSAS rifle, magazines and ammunition from one of them.
Police identified the first arrested person as 46-year-old Lourembam Subhaschandra alias Thouba alias Naochabi, an alleged active cadre of the Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF)/People’s Liberation Army (PLA). He was arrested from his residence at Singjamei Chinga Mathak Nameirakpam Leikai under Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West.
In a separate operation, Chandel Police and Assam Rifles conducted a search operation near Border Pillar No. 72 following inputs about the presence of insurgents.
Police said Lemba Mutum, 40, of Seijang village in Imphal East’s Lamlai, an alleged cadre of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), was apprehended during the operation.
An INSAS rifle, four magazines, 60 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition and a smartphone were recovered from his possession, police said.
