SIVASAGAR: The Bagh Hazarika Aikya Mancha has filed an FIR against Muzammil Islam, whose name was reportedly mentioned in an earlier complaint concerning the mysterious death of Bir Lachit Sena leader Manasjyoti Chetia.
The organisation’s district secretary, Abu Rahman, lodged the complaint at Sivasagar Sadar Police Station on the night of August 27.
According to the complaint, the organisation alleged that Islam had spread misinformation against the organisation and issued death threats to its members.
The FIR was filed less than 48 hours after the Bir Lachit Sena lodged a complaint at Sivasagar Sadar Police Station in connection with Chetia’s death, in which Islam was reportedly named as an accused.
The Bagh Hazarika Aikya Mancha urged police to investigate the allegations and take appropriate legal action.
