Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted a series of government initiatives covering flood relief, foreign-language training and financial assistance for fresh graduates.
The government will provide interim flood assistance of Rs 15,000 per affected household through Direct Benefit Transfer to families in Sivasagar, Charaideo and Jorhat. A total of 16,746 families will receive the assistance, involving Rs 25.12 crore. Overall, Rs 175.64 crore has been released to cover 1,17,095 households.
Under the Chief Minister’s Foreign Language Initiative for Global Human Talent (CM-FLIGHT), candidates will receive Rs 1 lakh in training support in three instalments and Rs 50,000 as post-placement assistance. The government has sanctioned Rs 2.8 crore under the programme, with 148 candidates enrolled between 2023 and 2026 and 452 new admissions recorded for 2026-27.
The Chief Minister’s Jibon Prerana Scheme will provide eligible fresh graduates from government and public institutions with Rs 2,500 per month for nine months. As many as 48,188 candidates have been identified as eligible, with a budget allocation of Rs 118.6 crore.
The initiatives form part of the Assam government’s efforts to provide flood relief while supporting skill development, employment and human capital development.
