Over 600 Participate in Ziro Honour Run 2025 to Pay Tribute to 1962 War Heroes

Itanagar: The picturesque valley of Ziro in Arunachal Pradesh came alive with patriotic fervour on Sunday as more than 600 participants took part in the Ziro Honour Run 2025, a tribute to the soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1962 Indo-China War. The event, organised under Operation Sadbhavana by the Indian Army in association with the Lower Subansiri District Administration, drew an enthusiastic response from civilians and defence personnel alike.The marathon featured three race categories — 21 km, 10 km, and 5 km — encouraging participation from people of all age groups. Winners across categories were felicitated with prizes, adding a celebratory note to the solemn tribute.

               Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General (Retd.) KT Parnaik graced the occasion as the chief guest. Commending the organisers, the Governor described the event as “more than just a run — a reflection of endurance, unity, and unwavering love for the nation.” He praised the Indian Army for fostering civil–military harmony and urged the youth to lead lives anchored in health, discipline, and education.“A strong and progressive nation is built not only by soldiers on the frontlines but by every citizen who chooses fitness, sobriety, and moral discipline,” the Governor said, encouraging young people to stay away from drugs and alcohol.

                As part of the celebrations, a Shaurya Motorcycle Rally was held from October 14 to 17, covering the stretch from Likabali Military Station in Lower Siang to the Neelam Tebi War Memorial in Keyi Panyor district. The rally honoured the courage of soldiers who fought in the 1962 war. Families of Martyr Rifleman Neelam Tebi and Havildar Shere Thapa were felicitated in a heartfelt ceremony.

               The event also featured vibrant cultural performances by the Apatani, Gorkha, and Sikh communities, along with martial arts demonstrations by Army personnel, symbolizing unity and diversity. Among those present were Ziro-Hapoli MLA Hage Appa, Deputy Commissioner Oli Perme, SP Keni Bagra, senior Army officials, and hundreds of local residents.The Ziro Honour Run 2025 emerged as a powerful testament to patriotism, discipline, and the enduring bond between the people of Arunachal Pradesh and the Indian Army.
