Udalguri-Sonitpur, Sept 2: Mazbat College in Udalguri held a farewell felicitation ceremony on Wednesday to honour librarian Jayanta Kumar Sharma following his retirement after a long and dedicated career.
The ceremony was held at the Silbious Kandapan Auditorium, where speakers highlighted Sharma’s contribution to the institution and his service to the college library.
The college family felicitated Sharma with a phulam gamocha, traditional Assamese jaapi, a citation and a memento as a mark of appreciation for his years of service.
Mazbat College Governing Body president Shyam Chundi, Principal Dr Pradip Kumar Sharma, Mazbat Municipal Board vice-president Jyotish Kalita, social worker Benudhar Adhikari, teaching and non-teaching staff, Governing Body members and students attended the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Chundi praised Sharma for his dedication, honesty and sincerity and appreciated his contribution to the development of the college library.
