Kokrajhar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) held a joint meeting in Kokrajhar on Wednesday to strengthen coordination between the two alliance partners in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). BTR Chief and BPF president Hagrama Mohilary attended the district-level meeting and stressed the importance of close coordination between the two parties for the development and effective administration of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) area. Mohilary assured BJP representatives that they would be included in various boards and advisory committees functioning under the BTC. These include Nikay Boards, Village Council Development Committees (VCDC), TCLCC, CSB and the Land Advisory Committee.

The move is aimed at improving coordination between the BPF-led BTC administration and the BJP and maintaining cordial relations between the alliance partners. The meeting assumes significance amid renewed political cooperation between the two parties following recent electoral developments in Assam and the BTC. Senior BJP and BPF leaders attended the meeting, including BJP Kokrajhar district in-charge Shankar Prasad Roy and district president Gosai Basumatary. BPF general secretary and MLA Maneswar Brahma, MLAs Rupam Chandra Roy, Sobharam Basumatary, Rabiram Narzary and Sewli Mohilary were also present.
The BPF is expected to hold similar joint meetings with BJP leaders in Chirang, Baksa, Udalguri and Tamulpur in the coming days. The meetings are intended to further consolidate cooperation and coordination between the two parties across the BTR. The latest initiative is expected to provide a broader platform for BJP and BPF leaders and representatives to work together on administrative and developmental issues within the BTC.
