Led by its National President, Maulana Mehmood Madani, the Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind critised the Assam Government for the brutal evictions without following the Supreme Court’s directives on rehabilitation of the affected families. The Supreme Court’s guidelines on proper rehabilitation of the evicted families have been totally ignored.

“He is not the Chief Minister of the Hindus alone but rather for all. Be it Hindus, Muslims, Christians or of any other religion. He has taken Constitutional oath for protecting the interests of all the people in the State. He should not discriminate people based on religion or a particular community. He should protect each and every people of his state. We are deeply anguished and saddened by his words and actions on a specific community only. We would like to appeal to the Prime Minister and also the Home Minister of India to kindly look into the unconstitutional evictions in the State and take necessary steps against the Assam CM”, added Fazlul Harim.
