DHAKUAKHANA, Sept 5: The 65th Teachers’ Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Dhakuakhana Teachers’ Training College on Friday, with trainees paying tribute to former President of India and eminent scholar Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
Organised by the college Students’ Union, the programme began with a cleanliness drive at 8 am. The main event started at 10 am with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Principal Dr Pradip Chandra Bora.
The meeting was presided over by Dr Bora, while trainee Lucky Dutta anchored the proceedings and Students’ Union general secretary Bitu Hazarika explained the objectives. The Principal extended greetings to the teaching fraternity and advised trainees on the importance of education and their future professional responsibilities. Several faculty members also addressed the gathering.
The formal session was followed by an interaction between senior and junior trainees. Musical performances by Lucky Dutta, Ritushna Chutia and others, along with a poetry recital by Anamika Dutta, marked the programme.
The trainees expressed their gratitude to their mentors, while Pranab Baruah proposed the vote of thanks. Faculty and non-teaching staff members attended the event along with the trainees.
