Diwali Night Fire Devastates Khonsa Lower Market in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap District

Itanagar: A massive fire broke out at Khonsa Lower Market in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district around midnight on October 20, destroying several shops and causing heavy property losses.

The blaze, suspected to have originated from firecrackers during Diwali celebrations, spread rapidly through the congested marketplace before firefighters managed to bring it under control in the early hours of Sunday.

While no casualties have been reported, the damage to property is extensive. Fire brigade teams worked tirelessly through the night to stop the flames from spreading to nearby residential areas.

Police and fire officials have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident. Preliminary reports suggest that a stray spark from fireworks may have ignited nearby structures, triggering the inferno.

For many local traders, the festive night turned into a tragedy as their shops and goods were reduced to ashes. Authorities are currently assessing the scale of the destruction, with detailed reports on losses expected soon.
