GUWAHATI, Sept 6: South Salmara Police seized 51 cattle and a boat during a patrol operation as part of an ongoing crackdown on suspected cattle smuggling, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
Sarma, in a post on X, said the seizure followed earlier action in Dhubri and reiterated that authorities would continue to prevent cattle smuggling through both road and river routes. One person was also apprehended during the operation, he said.
The Chief Minister praised the South Salmara Police and Assam Police for their efforts, stating that enforcement against cattle smuggling would continue regardless of the route used.
