Wild Buffalo Kills Man Near Burachapori Wildlife Sanctuary

NAGAON, Sept 6: A man was killed after a wild buffalo attacked him while he was working in a jute field on a river island near the Burachapori Wildlife Sanctuary in Assam’s Nagaon district.

The deceased was identified as Shafikul Islam. The buffalo, which had allegedly strayed out of the sanctuary, attacked Islam and left him critically injured. He suffered severe injuries and lost a substantial amount of blood.

Locals carried Islam on a makeshift stretcher for a considerable distance before arranging a vehicle to take him to hospital. However, he died on the way, reportedly due to heavy blood loss.

The Forest Department and police have launched an investigation into the incident and are examining the circumstances surrounding the attack.
