DULIAJAN, Sept 9: The Rotary Club of Duliajan conferred the Rotary Gyanjyoti Award-2026 on seven teachers at a Teachers’ Felicitation Programme held here on September 7.
The awardees were Bonti Saikia, Education Worker; Ranjita Likson of Duliajan Nabajyoti ME School; Gitarani Das and Pradyumna Baruah of Kacharipather ME School; Pompi Khanikar of Purbanchal Karikori Uccha Vidyalay; Prasanta Saikia of Schicia Girls H.S. School; and Madan Neog of Bhadoi Model English H.S. School. They received citations and mementoes for their contributions to education.
The programme began with the National Anthem, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp in tribute to former President and educationist Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose birth anniversary is observed as Teachers’ Day.
Rotary Club of Duliajan president Bimal Borgohain highlighted the role of teachers in shaping the future generation and urged educators to promote value-based education.
Chief guest Dr Ajit Saikia, president of Duliajan Sahitya Sabha and an educationist, spoke about the changing role of teachers and the challenges they faced in a rapidly changing society.
Teachers associated with Rotary and Inner Wheel were also felicitated. National Film Award (Rajat Kamal) recipient Jadumoni Dutta and All Assam and North Eastern States Shooters Championship award winner Ananta Gogoi were also honoured.
The Rotary Club of Duliajan team for 2025-26, led by Indira Hazarika, was felicitated for its performance at the District Award Ceremony in Guwahati on September 5. Senior Rotarians Sunil Borgohain, Dhruba Jyoti Bhuyan and Dr Naveen Swargiary were also honoured for their contributions.
Rotary Club secretary Madhurjya Sarmah, senior Rotarians, Inner Wheel members and distinguished guests attended the programme.
