CM Sarma Vows ‘Justice Will Be Served’ in Zubeen Garg Case Amid Baksa Visit

Baksa, Assam – Assam CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to ensuring justice in the high-profile Zubeen Garg death case, following a visit to a village in Baksa near the Baksa Jail, where violence recently erupted. The unrest occurred a few days ago when the five accused in the case were transferred to the facility.

Speaking to the media at the site, Chief Minister Sarma directly addressed calls for his resignation. “Some just want me to resign as the Chief Minister. They want someone else to sit in this chair,” he stated. He immediately followed this with a firm promise to the public: “I want to assure everybody, justice will be served. We will serve justice.”

The Chief Minister took the opportunity to detail the actions his government has taken as part of what he called a “relentless” effort toward justice. He highlighted a comprehensive approach to the investigation and legal proceedings. These efforts include arresting all the accused on time and ensuring none of the accused get bail and are kept in jail. Furthermore, the administration has gone to great lengths to gather evidence, which involved bringing all the members of the Assam Association in Singapore to record their statements and sending a team of Assam Police to Singapore.

Wrapping up his briefing, Dr. Sarma offered a direct assurance to the people of Assam and the fans of the late Zubeen Garg, a revered figure. He pledged that the government will absolutely serve justice in the matter and ensure that the culprits are punished.
