GUWAHATI, Sept 16: Gauhati University has scheduled the Post Graduate Students’ Union (PGSU) election for September 30, with counting of votes set to begin on October 1.
According to a notification issued by the Returning Officer, nomination forms for various office-bearer posts will be issued on September 22 from 10.30 am to 4 pm and September 23 from 10.30 am to 2 pm at Room No. 12, Meeting Room, Office of the Secretary, University Classes.
Candidates must submit their completed nomination forms by 3 pm on September 23. Scrutiny will begin at 3.15 pm, with the list of valid nominations to be published after 5 pm. Candidates can withdraw their nominations between 10 am and 2 pm on September 24, while the final list will be published after 5 pm.
Campaigning will be permitted from 6 pm on September 24 to 6 pm on September 28. An open debate for candidates will be held at the BKB Auditorium on September 28 in two sessions, from 11 am to 1.30 pm and 2 pm to 4.30 pm.
Polling will be held from 9 am to 3 pm on September 30 at four locations — Students’ Day Home, Room No. 17 of University Law College, the Department of Assamese and the Department of Sanskrit in the New Academic Building.
Counting will begin at 9 am on October 1 at the New Academic Building and the results will be declared after the process is completed.
The notification also directed heads of departments to conduct elections for Departmental Representatives (DRs) to the PGSU and submit the names of elected representatives to the Returning Officer at Room No. 14, Office of the Secretary, University Classes, by October 1.
