Mizoram is set to celebrate its flagship Anthurium Festival from October 1 to 3 across Reiek and Ailawng in Mamit district, showcasing an array of adventure sports, cultural showcases, and traditional Mizo games.
Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar reviewed logistical preparations—including traffic control, transit routes, and village-level coordination—during a planning meeting with district officials, community leaders, and event partners in Aizawl. Highlighting an influx of visitors across the state, Hmar emphasized that the festival continues to drive significant economic opportunities for local taxi operators, tea stalls, and small businesses.
The three-day itinerary features trekking routes and cave expeditions through Khuangchera Puk, Thawngpawnga Puk, and Ngaitei Puk, alongside shooting contests, traditional indigenous sports, children’s activities, and open access to blooming anthurium gardens. Cultural highlights will feature the signature “Leikapui Night” with prominent Mizo musicians, culminating in a grand musical concert at the closing ceremony.
The festival is spearheaded by the Mizoram government in active collaboration with local village councils, the Young Mizo Association, the Zo Anthurium Grower Society, and the Mizo Indigenous Games organising team.
