DULIAJAN, Oct 4: Punjab FC clinched the 9th OIL India Gold Cup Football Tournament 2026 title after defeating Oil India FC in a dramatic penalty shootout in the final here on Saturday.
The final produced a closely contested battle, with Oil India FC taking the lead in the 33rd minute through Akrang Narzary (No. 15).
Punjab FC fought back after the break and levelled the score in the 61st minute when Yendrembam Boby Singh (No. 25) found the net. Neither side could score again during regulation time, sending the match into extra time.
The additional 30 minutes also failed to produce a winner, forcing the final to be decided by a penalty shootout. Punjab FC kept their composure from the spot to secure the Gold Cup.
Punjab FC’s Singamayum Shami (No. 7) was adjudged the Best Player of the Final Match.
Oil India FC goalkeeper Navajyoti Ayan (No. 21) was named Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament. Punjab FC’s Aniket Yadav (No. 6) received the Best Linkman award, while teammate Suraj Murmu (No. 3) was named Best Defender.
The Best Player of the Tournament award went to Oil India FC’s Rituraj Mohan (No. 26).
The ninth edition of the OIL India Gold Cup concluded with the closely fought final bringing the tournament to a dramatic finish.
