JTC-Manipur Sets 48-Hour Ultimatum Over Missing Naga Guard’s Head

IMPHAL, Oct 12: The Joint Tribes Council (JTC-Manipur) has suspended the post-mortem examinations of two Naga men allegedly killed in an attack by suspected armed Kuki militants in Kangpokpi district, demanding the recovery of one victim’s missing head and the arrest of three individuals within 48 hours.

The bodies of Dibambou Ringkangmai, 48, and Ajinbou Ringkangmai, 52, from Makui village, were brought to JNIMS in Imphal on Sunday. Their families and civil society organisations have refused to claim the remains until Ajinbou’s head is recovered for burial.

In a statement, the council demanded the arrest of Thangboi Kipgen, David Hangsing and Dr Sailen Haokip, whom it named as alleged perpetrators. It accused the Centre and the Manipur government of failing to act and warned of further measures if its demands were not met.

The attack occurred on October 10 at Makui Ashang Naga village along the Imphal-Tamei road, killing three Naga village guards. In a separate ambush at Tapon Liangmai village around the same time, one civilian was killed and two others injured.
