Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said the BJP would seek votes in the upcoming Urban Local Body (ULB) elections by highlighting its record on infrastructure, public services and law and order.
The elections are scheduled for November 27, with counting set for December 2. Speaking on Saturday, Saha expressed confidence in the party’s prospects, referring to its performance in the previous civic polls and the work undertaken by the government since 2018.
He identified law and order, development across the state and public confidence in the government as the central themes of the BJP’s campaign. The party would also highlight improvements to roads, water supply, lakes and ponds, narrow lanes and electricity infrastructure, he said.
Saha further said the BJP would raise what he described as attempts to destabilise the country and change the government during its campaign. He maintained that the party was ready for the polls and would ask voters to assess it on the basis of its work.
Criticising the opposition, the Chief Minister alleged that parties which had previously held power had failed to deliver meaningful development. He said people knew which party had produced results.
Saha said his government had focused on public welfare since 2018, particularly on reaching the most disadvantaged sections of society. He expressed confidence that voters would take its work into account when casting their votes.
