Shillong Lajong and OIL India Storm Into Semi-Finals

Duliajan: The 2nd and 3rd quarter-final matches of the ongoing football tournament witnessed thrilling encounters as Shillong Lajong FC and OIL India FC, Duliajan advanced to the semi-finals with impressive victories.

In the 2nd quarter-final held on October 24, Shillong Lajong FC from Meghalaya defeated Assam Police Football Team 3–1 in a high-energy clash. Figo Syndai (43rd minute), Everbrightson Sana Mylliempdah (63rd minute), and Aman Ahlawat (68th minute) found the net for Lajong, while Assam Police managed one consolation goal. Figo Syndai, wearing jersey number 7, was named Man of the Match for his stellar performance.

The following day, OIL India FC, Duliajan edged past Emami East Bengal FC, Kolkata with a narrow 1–0 victory in the 3rd quarter-final. The decisive goal came from Akrang Narzary (jersey no. 15) in the 89th minute, earning him the Man of the Match award.

The match turned tense when OIL India FC skipper Sisuram Chutia sustained an ear injury following a collision with East Bengal’s goalkeeper, ruling him out for the remainder of the tournament.

The 4th quarter-final is scheduled to be played today between Diamond Harbour FC, Kolkata, and TRAU FC, Manipur, promising another exciting contest as the race to the semi-finals intensifies.
