Over 79 people join BJP in 2 No. Guma Constituency

Gossaigaon: A massive joining programme was organised on Thursday at Bashbari under the 2 No. Guma constituency, where over 79 individuals from different political affiliations officially embraced the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The event was presided over by former BJP chairman Gautam Roy. BJP candidate Sojol Kumar Singha, while addressing the gathering, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people for their support. He said the overwhelming participation had already strengthened his candidature. Referring to the recent Satyapir rally, where the Chief Minister of Assam was impressed by the unprecedented turnout, Singha termed the Bashbari event another “blessing” for his political journey. Highlighting his commitment to welfare, Singha assured the people that if elected, he would request the Chief Minister to extend the Arunodoi scheme to every household of Bashbari village. He also promised other welfare measures aimed at uplifting the area. Touching upon sensitive issues, Singha reminded the gathering of the 2012 ethnic clashes that occurred under Congress rule, urging people not to forget the painful memories while voting. He further asserted that unlike BPF and Congress, the BJP had consistently worked to maintain peace and harmony in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), which was why even the minority community was showing growing support towards the party’s ideology. When asked about the recent resignation of Nileswar Roy, a senior BJP leader and former BTC election candidate, Singha downplayed its impact. He clarified that the party’s base remained strong at the grassroots level and the enthusiasm of the workers would ensure that BJP’s momentum remained unshaken. The programme concluded with newly-joined members taking pledges to work collectively for ensuring BJP’s victory in the upcoming BTC elections.
