Guwahati: In a remarkable achievement for regional cinema, SPB Films and Sampreeti Welfare Society have announced that two films directed by Smriti Prakash Boruah have been officially selected for the Egyptian American Film Festival (EAFF) 2025, to be held at the Center for the Arts, College of Staten Island, New York.
The selected films include the feature film “Yoodha – The Warrior” in the Feature Film category and the short film “Inclination” in the Short Film category. Both works were chosen from over 5,100 global submissions, marking a proud milestone for the Assamese film fraternity.
“Yoodha – The Warrior” delves into the life of a transgender woman navigating social prejudices while seeking dignity, recognition, and love. In contrast, “Inclination” is a tender portrayal of a mother’s unconditional love and sacrifices for her children.
Expressing gratitude, Smriti Prakash Boruah said, “Having two films selected for EAFF is a deeply humbling honor. ‘Yoodha – The Warrior’ is an emotional plea for acceptance and equality, while ‘Inclination’ celebrates the universal power of maternal love. Sharing these stories with an international audience is a proud moment for all of us.”
