Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma is a visionary shaping Assam’s transformation: Kaushik Rai

Silchar:  In a stirring and heartfelt address at the Labooc Tea Garden Field, Minister for Food, Public Distribution, Consumer Affairs & Mines and Minerals, and Barak Valley Development Department Kaushik Rai lauded the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and the transformative impact of the ‘Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina 2.0’ scheme.

Calling it a “historic day for Assam’s daughters,” Minister Rai said the State Government’s determined efforts to eradicate child marriage and empower girls through education have ushered in a new era of social transformation.

“Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma is not just a Chief Minister; he is a visionary architect who has rebuilt Assam’s social foundation on the pillars of dignity, education, and empowerment,” he said, describing the Nijut Moina scheme as “a mission of hope and a pledge to safeguard the future of every girl.”

He emphasized that the initiative seeks to ensure that no girl abandons her education due to financial or social barriers, terming the assistance “a symbol of faith” from the State towards its daughters.

The event also saw Co-District Commissioner Dhrubajyoti Pathak deliver a welcome address, commending the Chief Minister’s unwavering commitment to education and women’s empowerment. Pathak noted that the Nijut Moina scheme has been instrumental in reducing dropout rates and inspiring girls to pursue higher education.

Amid an atmosphere of celebration and optimism, cheques were distributed to 1,477 girl students from across the Lakhipur constituency, enabling them to continue their studies under this flagship government initiative.

The ceremony was attended by Lakhipur Municipal Board Chairman Mrinal Kanti Das, Manipuri Development Board Chairperson Reena Singh, and several prominent educationists and social workers, including Sanjay Kumar Thakur, Debjyoti Bauri, Kishan Rikiyasan, Bijoyeta Mahato, Seema Deb, Gunjan Kar, and Shubhankar Gwala.

Minister Rai concluded with a powerful message of collective responsibility, urging teachers, parents, and communities to stand united with the government’s vision: “Our commitment is clear — to create an Assam where women are not victims of circumstance, but champions of change.”
