Teachers’ Day Celebrated Across Assam with Tributes and Cultural Events

Guwahati: Assam today joined the rest of the nation in celebrating Teachers’ Day, paying rich tributes to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the former President of India and eminent philosopher, on his birth anniversary. Schools, colleges, and universities across the state organized cultural programs, seminars, and felicitation ceremonies to honor teachers for their invaluable contribution to shaping society. Students took the lead in managing classes in many institutions, symbolically stepping into the role of teachers as a mark of respect. In Guwahati, state-level celebrations were held where outstanding teachers from different districts were felicitated by the Education Department for their dedication and service in the field of education. Similar programs were organized in Barpeta, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, and other districts, with students presenting songs, dances, and plays showcasing the teacher-student bond. Speaking on the occasion, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu highlighted the vital role of teachers in building a knowledgeable and progressive Assam, urging them to continue guiding students with dedication and compassion. The day concluded with heartfelt gestures from students across Assam, reaffirming the timeless respect for teachers as mentors, guides, and nation-builders.
