Udalguri: In a significant success in Assam’s ongoing fight against narcotics, the Assam Police seized nearly 310 kilograms of cannabis worth around ₹3 crore during a special operation in Mazbat, Udalguri district, on Tuesday.
According to official sources, the contraband—weighing precisely 309.78 kg—was recovered during a targeted operation based on specific intelligence inputs. Police arrested two individuals in connection with the case, who are currently being interrogated to trace the larger network behind the smuggling racket.

The operation marks another success in the state’s continuing campaign against illicit drug trafficking. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam has maintained a “zero-tolerance” policy on drugs, with the #AssamAgainstDrugs initiative leading to multiple major seizures and arrests in recent years.
Officials said the interrogation of the arrested duo is expected to reveal crucial links to inter-district and possibly interstate trafficking networks. Further investigations are underway.
The latest seizure once again underscores Assam Police’s commitment to dismantling drug syndicates and safeguarding the state’s youth from the menace of narcotics.
