Guwahati: FC Green Valley delivered a commanding performance to defeat Frontier Club by 57 runs in Match No. 2 of the Guwahati Sports Association (GSA) Qualifying Round Cricket League 2024–25 at Nehru Stadium. The match, played under a 20-over format, saw Frontier Club win the toss and opt to field first.
Batting for FC Green Valley, Nabajyoti Hazarika anchored the innings with a remarkable 65 runs off 36 balls, smashing four boundaries and six sixes. Vinit Kr. Mandal contributed a quick 21 runs from 18 balls, including four fours and two sixes, while Narayan Sarkar remained unbeaten on 16 runs off 29 deliveries. FC Green Valley put up a strong total of 146 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs.
In reply, Frontier Club faltered in their chase, getting bowled out for 89 runs in 17.1 overs. Simanta Barman top-scored for the side with 32 runs off 30 balls, supported by Utpal Baruah’s 14 off 28 balls and Rupam Dhar’s 11 off 14 balls.
The FC Green Valley bowling attack was spearheaded by Simanta Barman, who claimed three wickets for 30 runs in 4 overs, while Rupam Dhar took two wickets and Sambhu Jha added one to his name. For Frontier Club, Sonu Basfor picked up three wickets for 16 runs in 3 overs, with Nabajyoti Hazarika and Rupjyoti Kalita taking two wickets each.
With this comprehensive win, FC Green Valley continued the spirited momentum of the ongoing GSA Qualifying Round Cricket League 2024–25, being held from 5th to 14th November at Nehru Stadium under the organisation of the Guwahati Sports Association. The match was officiated by umpires Manash Das and Arif Saikia, with Nitul Ali serving as the scorer.
Tomorrow’s fixtures will see Beltola Sports Club face Icon Sports Club at 9:00 AM, followed by Dynamo Club taking on FC Green Valley at 12:30 PM.
