Lachit Borphukan Military Station Laid at Dhubri

Dhubri:  In a decisive move underscoring India’s strategic foresight and infrastructural preparedness, Lieutenant General R. C. Tiwari, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command, visited the Gajraj Corps in the border areas and laid the foundation stone of the Lachit Borphukan Military Station at Dhubri, Assam.

Named after the legendary Ahom commander Lachit Borphukan, who symbolized unmatched courage and leadership in protecting Assam’s sovereignty, the new military station captures the spirit of resilience that continues to define the state’s proud heritage.

The establishment of this station is a significant stride in enhancing the operational capabilities of the Indian Army in the strategically sensitive region bordering Bangladesh. It aims to bolster surveillance, strengthen logistics, and ensure rapid deployment in times of need — a reflection of how swift action aligns with evolving security imperatives in the Northeast.

During his visit, Lt. Gen. Tiwari reviewed the operational readiness and internal security situation along the border, while also assessing the progress of ongoing infrastructure development projects initiated by the formation.

He extended heartfelt appreciation to the Government of Assam and the Civil Administration for their steadfast support and collaboration in facilitating the establishment of the military station. Commending the Gajraj Corps for their professionalism and efficiency, he emphasized that the speed of action demonstrated in bringing this project to life has outpaced traditional operational timelines, showcasing the Army’s commitment to proactive readiness.
