Nagaon: Along with the rest of the country, several educational as well as other civic bodies of Nagaon celebrated separately the teacher’s day today here. Nagaon GNDG Commerce College celebrated Teacher’s day today to commemorate the birth anniversary of former President of India, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. The programme was organized by the College Students’ Union with active participation from the students. The celebration began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp in front of Dr Radhakrishnan’s portrait by the Principal, Dr Mriganka Saikia. Following the lightning of the lamp at the portrait of Dr Radhakrishnan, students fraternity felicitated all the faculty members of the college in recognition of their dedication and service. Addressing the gathering, Dr Saikia highlighted the significance of the day and emphasized the invaluable role of teachers in shaping young minds and contribution to nation-building. The event concluded with a colourful cultural programme presented by the students. Apart from these, the students of the M Com. and B B A departments also organized Teacher’s day celebrations in their respective classrooms, where they felicitated the Principal along with their respective faculty members.
