Bilasipara: A major incident of violence erupted during a national-level football tournament at the Barakanda playground in Bilasipara. The clash took place during the ongoing Independence Cup Football Tournament, organized by the Give to Live Foundation, Barakanda. According to sources, teams from Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Sikkim, West Bengal, and several other states were participating in the prestigious tournament. The incident occurred during a match between Shilbari FC and Gosaigaon Global FC. In the final minutes of the match, an alleged controversial decision by the referee triggered heated arguments, which quickly escalated into a violent brawl between supporters of both teams. Several individuals reportedly sustained injuries in the incident. Local sources blamed mismanagement by the tournament organizers for the situation, calling the incident a disgrace to the sporting spirit. Social organizations and sports enthusiasts have strongly condemned the violence and demanded a thorough investigation and strict action against those responsible.
