Barpeta: A Skill Development Training Programme for the roles of Optical Fiber Technician and Optical Fiber Splicer was inaugurated today in Barpeta under the Aspirational District Programme, in collaboration with the District Administration.
The initiative aims to empower local youth with industry-relevant skills in optical fiber technology — a rapidly growing sector in India’s digital infrastructure landscape. Alongside technical training, participants will receive guidance on entrepreneurship to help them pursue self-employment and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
Aligned with the national vision of building a Skilled and Self-Reliant India, the programme seeks to boost employment generation and promote local enterprise development in the district.

The inaugural event was attended by Moushumi Chetia, ACS, Additional District Commissioner; Abdul Wakil, AFS, Financial and Accounts Officer; Arup Kumar Deka, General Manager (I/c), District Industries & Commerce Centre; Pranjit Deka, Assistant Employment Officer, District Employment Exchange; Rofiqul Islam, District Project Manager, Assam Skill Development Mission (Barpeta & Bajali); and Jahidul Islam, Supervisor, ITI Barpeta.
The initiative underscores Barpeta District Administration’s continued commitment to promoting skill-based education, enhancing employability, and creating a strong foundation for youth empowerment under the Aspirational District Programme.
