Bongaigaon: In a swift move to curb the spread of inflammatory content online, police in Assam’s Bongaigaon district have arrested a youth for allegedly posting objectionable remarks on social media in connection with the recent Delhi bomb blast.
The accused, identified as Rafijul Ali, reportedly shared controversial comments on his Facebook account shortly after the incident, which quickly drew attention for its insensitive and provocative nature. Acting on the post, law enforcement authorities traced it to Ali’s profile and detained him for questioning.
According to police sources, the arrest was made to prevent the escalation of misinformation and to maintain public order during a period of heightened sensitivity following the explosion. Officials further warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone attempting to incite communal tension or spread false narratives through digital platforms.
Investigations into the case are currently underway, and authorities have reiterated their commitment to closely monitoring online activities that could threaten public peace or national security.
