Red Fort Blast Death Toll Rises to 13 as Another Victim Succumbs to Injuries

The death toll from the devastating blast near Delhi’s Red Fort on November 10 has risen to 13, after another injured victim succumbed to his injuries at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital, officials confirmed on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Bilal, whose death was reported to the Delhi Police early in the morning. Officials said that his post-mortem would be conducted later in the day.

The powerful explosion, which took place on Monday evening near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, had initially claimed multiple lives and left several others injured. With Bilal’s passing, the number of fatalities has climbed to 13, while several victims continue to receive treatment at hospitals across the city.

According to the Delhi Fire Department, they received a call about the blast shortly after the explosion and immediately dispatched seven fire tenders to the scene. The blast reportedly originated from a parked car, which caught fire and quickly spread to three or four nearby vehicles, causing significant destruction.

Following the incident, authorities sounded a red alert across the national capital, tightening security checks and increasing surveillance at key installations and crowded public places.

The heightened alert came just a day after law enforcement agencies busted a major terror module and seized nearly 2,900 kg of bomb-making materials, sparking fears of possible coordinated attacks.

Officials said investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the explosion and whether it was linked to any broader terror network.
