Guwahati: In a major step toward enhancing passenger comfort and improving the overall travel experience, Indian Railways has announced the induction of modern Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) rakes for the Kanchanjunga Express. The upgraded rakes will replace the existing ICF coaches of Train No. 13173/13174 (Sealdah–Sabroom) and 13175/13176 (Sealdah–Silchar), becoming operational from November 28 and 29 respectively.
The Kanchanjunga Express is a crucial rail link between eastern India and the northeastern region, playing a significant role in boosting connectivity and socio-economic integration. The shift to LHB coaches marks an important milestone in the railways’ modernization efforts.
LHB coaches are widely regarded for their enhanced safety and comfort features. Their anti-telescopic design reduces the impact during collisions, while advanced suspension systems offer passengers a smoother and more stable journey. The coaches are also capable of higher speeds and include improved interior aesthetics, contributing to a more pleasant travel environment.
