Missing AGP leader found dead in Abhayapuri: Alleges Political Conspiracy

Bongaigaon: The sudden death of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) leader Muzaffar Hussain has triggered shockwaves and heightened political tension in Bongaigaon district. Hussain, a resident of Rongapani, went missing on Friday night and was found dead the following morning under the Bor-Narikala bridge in Abhayapuri. Family members have alleged that the incident was a “political murder”, claiming Hussain fell victim to a conspiracy.

Their allegations have added fuel to suspicions surrounding the case, intensifying unrest in the area. Police officials, accompanied by the Executive Magistrate and a forensic team, promptly reached the site to begin investigations. Authorities have maintained that the cause of death and possible political links will only be confirmed after the probe is completed. Adding a layer of sensitivity, it has emerged that Hussain’s wife contested the last Panchayat elections but was defeated. This revelation has further deepened speculation around political motives.

The discovery has unsettled the local political atmosphere, with senior AGP leaders rushing to Abhayapuri. Among them was the party’s Central Secretary Bhupen Roy, who visited the site and spoke with family members and supporters. As investigations continue, the incident has cast a shadow over Bongaigaon’s political landscape, with demands for a thorough inquiry growing louder from AGP workers and local residents.
