Janata Dal (United) national president, Nitish Kumar, is scheduled to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar for an unprecedented tenth term today, marking a significant moment in the state’s political history. The ceremonial event is set to take place at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna. This development follows closely on the heels of the recent Bihar Assembly elections, which culminated in a decisive mandate for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
The election results, which surprised political analysts and the opposition alike, delivered a sweeping victory to the NDA, which secured a formidable total of 202 seats in the assembly. In stark contrast, the opposition Mahagathbandhan (MGB) was able to secure only 35 seats. Within the victorious NDA, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged with 89 seats, closely followed by the JDU with 85 seats. Notably, both major coalition partners contested an equal number of seats, 101 each.
Final preparations for the grand swearing-in ceremony are currently underway at the historic venue. The event is expected to be a major show of strength for the ruling alliance, with several high-profile national figures in attendance, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. To manage the large contingent of guests, which will include numerous top NDA leaders, multiple special pandals have been arranged alongside the main stage. Nitish Kumar’s return to the helm for a record tenth time solidifies his long-standing and resilient leadership within the political landscape of Bihar.
