Two schoolgirls lost their lives and another was left critically injured after a speeding Bolero hit them near Saniadi in Hajo on Saturday morning, November 22, while they were walking to their tuition classes.
According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle was travelling at high speed when the driver allegedly lost control and rammed into the three students. The impact proved fatal for two of the girls, who died at the scene. The third student was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
The incident triggered widespread anger among residents of the area. In a spontaneous outburst, locals set the Bolero ablaze shortly after the crash. Firefighters, supported by Hajo Police personnel, later doused the flames.
Traffic along the route was severely disrupted as a large number of people gathered to protest the tragedy and demand strict action against those responsible. Police have begun an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the accident and whether reckless driving or negligence played a role.
Authorities have assured that appropriate legal steps will follow once the inquiry is complete, as the community mourns the loss of two young lives cut short by the incident.
