Imphal: Manipur delivered an inspiring performance at the National Abilympics 2025 — India’s premier Work Skill Olympics for Divyangjan — with two gifted participants from the state securing top national honours. The event, held at the Civil Services Officers Institute (CSOI) in New Delhi, brought together 59 finalists from over 20 states who advanced after regional competitions across the country.
Organized by Sarthak Educational Trust in collaboration with the National Abilympic Association of India (NAAI), and supported by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), TPCDT, and IndusInd Bank, the National Abilympics 2025 marked the culmination of four regional competitions held in Chennai, Mumbai, Lucknow, and Guwahati. This year, a total of 26 medals — 8 Gold, 10 Silver, and 8 Bronze — were awarded across multiple skill categories.
Manipur stole the spotlight with two remarkable wins. Yumnam Naresh Singh, a visually impaired contestant, won Gold in Massage Services, emerging as one of the strongest competitors across all service-related disciplines. His superior technique and precision outperformed participants from Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir, and Delhi, earning him loud applause from jurors and guests.

Manipur’s second medallist, Abujum Arunkumar Meitei, who has a locomotor disability, secured Silver in Basket Making, a category showcasing traditional craft and fine motor control. Competing against skilled participants from Jammu & Kashmir and other northern states, Meitei impressed judges with artistry, design precision, and technique.
The victories highlight the Northeast’s rising presence in India’s skill development and disability-inclusion landscape. Manipur has consistently excelled in vocational arts and therapeutic skill categories, and this year’s accomplishments strengthen its profile on the national stage.
With their national victories, the medalists are now one step closer to representing India at the 11th International Abilympics in Finland in 2027, the global Work Skill Olympics for Persons with Disabilities. For Manipur, the accolades are more than sporting triumphs — they reinforce the belief that opportunity, inclusion, and access to skill training can unlock extraordinary human potential.
