Er. Kailash Sarma Re-Elected Vice President of Powerlifting India

Guwahati:  In a significant achievement for Assam, internationally acclaimed sportsperson and Chief Technical Director of the Assam Powerlifting Association, Er. Kailash Sarma, has been unanimously re-elected as Vice President of Powerlifting India for a second consecutive term. The announcement was made during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Powerlifting India held in Alappuzha, Kerala, on Sunday.

The AGM was held under the presidency of Sathish Kumar of Karnataka, while the proceedings were conducted by P. J. Joseph (Arjuna Awardee). Representatives from more than 20 affiliated state units participated in the meeting, making it one of the most widely attended national gatherings of the federation.

In another proud moment for Assam, Rajkumar Das, President of the Assam Powerlifting Association, has been nominated as a member of the Development Committee of Powerlifting India for the first time, marking a major milestone in his sports administration career.

The new office bearers of Powerlifting India elected at the AGM include Sathish Kumar as President, P. J. Joseph (Arjuna) of Kerala as Secretary General, and Krishna Sahu of Chhattisgarh as Treasurer.

A three-member delegation from the Assam Powerlifting Association—comprising Er. Kailash Sarma, Rajkumar Das, and APA General Secretary & national smart referee Anupam—attended the national meeting and represented the state. The re-election of Er. Sarma and the committee nomination of Mr. Das highlight Assam’s growing prominence in the national powerlifting arena.
