Bodo Martyrs’ Cup Football begins at Langhing

Nagaon: The 28th Bodo Martyrs’  Cup Football Tournament commenced today at the Garoimari Stadium at Langhing in Karbi Anglong district. 

      The tournament, organized by the Bodo Swahid Nyash and managed by the Langhing Tiniali Sports Association, witnessed the opening match between JB FC, Nagaon and FC Rongbin, Donkamonkam, West Karbi Anglong 

     In the highly anticipated match, JBFC, Nagaon emerged victorious, defeating FC, Rongbin 2-1. 

     FC Rongbin took the lead in the 61st minute with a goal from Thipe, but JBFC equalized in the 87th minute through a goal from Madhuchandra Bordoloi. The winning goal was scored by Bivanjyoti Laskar in injury time.

       The match was officiated by referee Dhrubajyoti Kalita, assisted by Sankar Terang, Aman Bordoloi, and Ankur Kalita. Narayan Basumatary, a noted sports organizer, was present as the match commissioner, while Rajendra Basumatary represented the Referee’s inspector

      Bibanjyoti Laskar, the star performer of JBFC, was adjudged the Man of the Match and received the award from Sonaram Basumatary, General Secretary of the Karbi Anglong District Kachari Society.

      The tournament was formally inaugurated by Bilimohan Khakhlari, Executive Member of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council. Other dignitaries present at the event included Sarat Chandra Brahma, former Executive Member of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Premananda Mushahary, a Sahitya Academy award winner, and other prominent personalities.

      The tournament will continue tomorrow with a match between Diphu’s Kachha FC and phuloni SA.
