Security Forces Arrest Multiple Suspects and Seize Arms in Intensified Manipur Operations

Security forces in Manipur carried out extensive operations between 28 and 30 November 2025, leading to multiple arrests and significant recoveries linked to insurgency and extortion across several districts. The coordinated efforts targeted individuals suspected of involvement with various outlawed groups operating in the state.

Among those arrested was 29-year-old Potsangbam Niranjan Singh, reportedly an active cadre of PREPAK (PRO). He was taken into custody from his residence at Khagempalli Panthak under Imphal Police Station in Imphal West district. According to authorities, he had been extorting money from doctors, hospitals, school van associations, schools, bakery shops, gym centres and ordinary citizens. Security personnel recovered two mobile phones and an Aadhaar card during the arrest.

In separate incidents, security forces apprehended 51-year-old Maibam Brojen Meitei of KCP (PWG) near Litan Thongkhong in Thoubal district, and 36-year-old Kiyam Hemanta Singh of KCP (Taibanganba) in Imphal East district. Mobile phones were seized during both operations as supporting evidence.

On 28 November, four individuals were detained during routine checking at Phaikoh Outpost under Chassad Police Station in Kamjong district. The arrested persons — Nengneihoi Khongsai of Seijang, Mangminthang Haokip of C Asian village, Mangjoithang Haokip of Seijang village and Lempu Khongsai of Nengboi village — were found carrying unaccounted cash amounting to ₹57,77,700 along with a white four-wheeler. Authorities suspect the money may be linked to unidentified insurgent groups, and further investigation is under way. On the same day, two active cadres of RPF/PLA were arrested in separate operations in Thoubal and Imphal East, leading to the recovery of mobile phones.

A day later, security forces recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition from the foothill areas of Mongbung and Seijang village under Jiribam Police Station in Jiribam district. The haul included three double-barrelled guns, a country-made .32 pistol with magazine, two No. 36 high-explosive grenades and 118 rounds of ammunition of different calibres. The recovery formed part of the continuing efforts to restrict the movement and activities of armed groups in the region.

During the three-day period, security teams installed 112 Nakas or checkpoints across both hill and valley districts to strengthen vigilance and restrict the movement of individuals involved in unlawful activities. Despite the extensive checks, no detentions were reported from these checkpoints. Security forces continue to maintain an active presence, with regular search operations and area domination in vulnerable localities to address ongoing security challenges in the state.
