Assam Police seize drugs worth ₹2.16 crore in Sribhumi, three held

Assam Police seized drugs valued at ₹2.16 crore and arrested three suspected peddlers in Sribhumi district, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Monday. The operations, conducted in two separate actions, resulted in the recovery of 139.47 grams of heroin worth ₹27.94 lakh and 376.62 kilograms of cannabis valued at ₹1.88 crore.

Sarma announced the development on social media, stating, “In Assam, drug peddling ends at the hands of @assampolice. ALWAYS!” He described the actions as “swift blockbusters,” noting that all necessary legal proceedings had begun.

Police said the seizures formed part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region, with further operations continuing in Sribhumi and nearby areas.
