Public Outrage Grows as No Arrests Made in Bilasipara Minor Rape Case

Bilasipara: Tension is rising in Bilasipara, Dhubri district, after the alleged rape of a Class VIII student and the subsequent delay in police action. The incident occurred on November 27, when the minor was reportedly lured to a paddy field by Moinal Haque of Ward No. 7, where three others allegedly joined him in assaulting her.

The girl was later found by her family in a distressed state, with her hands and feet tied. Locals helped free her before the family lodged an FIR at Bilasipara Police Station. Police registered a case under Sections 376(3), 109, 120B of the BNS and relevant sections of the POCSO Act, 2012.

However, despite the filing of the case under stringent laws, no arrests have been made five days after the incident, sparking anger among residents and social groups. Local units of the Vishva Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal have criticised the police, accusing them of negligence and delay.

Demanding swift action, the organisations warned of protests if the accused are not arrested immediately, as public pressure continues to intensify.
