Nagaon: A shocking incident has left residents of Sapmari under Rupohihat constituency in Nagaon district in deep shock, after the body of an eight-year-old girl was found buried in the backyard of her house on Monday.
According to reports, the child had gone missing around 11 am. Despite frantic searches by family members and villagers, she could not be traced. Later, locals noticed freshly dug soil behind the house, raising suspicion. On digging the spot, they made the grim discovery of the girl’s body buried in a pit.

Police personnel from the Uluboni outpost rushed to the scene and recovered the body. Preliminary investigations suggest the child may have been murdered by miscreants before being buried to conceal the crime.
The horrific incident has triggered anger, grief, and tension across the locality. Villagers have demanded immediate action and strict punishment for the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, police have launched an intensive investigation to trace and arrest those involved. Authorities assured that every angle of the case would be thoroughly probed.
