AIIMS Guwahati Becomes First ATLS-Accredited Centre in Northeast

Guwahati: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Guwahati, has achieved a major milestone by becoming the first health facility in the Northeast to be accredited as an Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) provider centre. Marking the beginning of structured trauma education in the region, the institute successfully conducted its inaugural ATLS provider course from December 12 to 14.

Confirming the development, AIIMS Guwahati stated that the accreditation represents a significant step towards strengthening standardized trauma care in the Northeast. Eminent ATLS faculty members from across the country participated in the three-day programme, contributing their expertise to support and guide the initiative.

The institute highlighted that the accreditation will play a crucial role in disseminating globally accepted trauma management principles, with special emphasis on timely and effective intervention during the “golden hour,” which is critical in determining trauma survival and outcomes.
