Biswanath Chariali: In a stirring ceremony that evoked deep patriotic fervour, Maj Gen Suresh Bhambhu, YSM, SM, Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), unfurled a 72-foot-high Monumental National Flag at HQ IGAR (East), Srikona, on Wednesday.
The event was graced by Maj Gen Ashim Kohli, SM** (Retd), CEO of the Flag Foundation of India, alongside Assam Rifles veterans, schoolchildren, NCC cadets, and families of the Srikona garrison.

The monumental flag, towering above the garrison, was unfurled amid enthusiastic applause. The ceremony was followed by the singing of the National Anthem, during which the massive tricolour swayed majestically in the breeze, filling the gathering with pride and emotion.

Officials said the installation of the monumental flag at Srikona reflects Assam Rifles’ enduring commitment to national unity, honour, and patriotism, while also inspiring the younger generation present at the occasion.
