Centre Holds High-Level Tripartite Talks with Nagaland Government and ENPO on Frontier Nagaland Territory

The Government of India convened a significant high-level tripartite meeting on December 21 to advance discussions regarding the Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT). Held at Kartavya Bhavan-3 on Janpath Road, the session was chaired by the Union Home Secretary and brought together key stakeholders, including a delegation from the Government of Nagaland led by the state’s Chief Secretary and senior representatives from the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO). This gathering marks a critical milestone in the ongoing dialogue aimed at addressing the developmental and administrative aspirations associated with the region.

The tripartite negotiations were preceded by a focused bilateral meeting on December 18, 2025, between the ENPO and a specialized team from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). This central team comprised senior officials from the North East division and various intelligence agencies, underscoring the high level of importance and strategic weight the Union government has attached to these proceedings. These preliminary discussions laid the groundwork for the broader administrative consultation that followed, ensuring that all parties were aligned on the core issues surrounding the FNT proposal.

Following the formal conclusion of the meetings, the ENPO delegation, accompanied by Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament S. Phangnon Konyak, met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his official residence on December 21, 2025. During this visit, the delegation extended seasonal Christmas greetings to the Home Minister and conveyed their formal appreciation for the central government’s approach. The representatives specifically highlighted the Centre’s evident seriousness and steadfast commitment toward achieving a resolution for the Frontier Nagaland Territory, signaling a positive trajectory for the historic peace and administrative talks.
