Gaurav Gogoi alleges corruption, misconduct by BJP MLAs in Assam

Guwahati, Dec 27: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president and Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi on Saturday alleged widespread corruption and misconduct involving several BJP legislators in the state, describing the present Assam government as one of “injustice and oppression”.

Speaking to the media, Gogoi referred to what he said were multiple incidents and reports implicating BJP MLAs in serious allegations. He cited cases of a legislator being questioned over citizenship-related issues, another allegedly threatening an individual in connection with a land dispute, one MLA reportedly linked to the Gir Cow Procurement Scam, and others accused of having connections with syndicates and land mafia operations.

“The people of Assam are fed up with the rampant corruption and oppression under the current government,” Gogoi said. He claimed that such incidents reflected the failure of the BJP-led government to ensure justice, transparency and accountability in governance.

The Congress leader further asserted that public sentiment in the state was changing and predicted a shift in the political landscape in the forthcoming elections.

Gogoi also appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and actively exercise their democratic rights, stressing the need for a government that is transparent, accountable and free from corruption.
