Meghalaya name Under-19 women’s squad for BCCI One Day Trophy

Shillong, Dec 30: The Meghalaya Cricket Association on December 29 unveiled a 15-member junior women’s squad, along with five standbys, for the BCCI Under-19 Girls’ One Day Trophy 2025–26 in the plate group, marking the start of the state’s national campaign.

The selection committee confirmed that Meghalaya were scheduled to begin their tournament on January 2 with an opening match against Arunachal Pradesh. All plate group fixtures were set to be played in Guwahati, where Meghalaya were drawn in a pool featuring Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland and Sikkim.

Laviola Mary L Mawlong was named captain of the side, while Onasa M Sangma was appointed vice-captain. The team was to be coached by Laxman Chettri, as the association looked to strengthen its presence in age-group women’s cricket at the national level.

Officials said the chosen squad reflected a balance of promising young players and those with prior experience in domestic age-group competitions, underlining Meghalaya’s efforts to build depth and continuity in the women’s game.

The selected players were Aniesha Arengh, Aviana Myrthong, Badphishirta L Nonglait, Idatyngkai Marngar, Laviola Mary L Mawlong, Meaikyntiiaka Warjri, Mebalapynkmen Syiemlieh, Onasa M Sangma, Prisceca Nongpiur, Ribahun Mawlong, Nokgam N Marak, Anuradha Gurung, Rima Sunar, Haphilahun Makri and Asorphi R Wankhar.
