Guwahati, Jan 5: With the Assam Assembly elections a few months away, political activity intensified across the state as parties began gearing up for the polls. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stepped up its outreach by launching a wall writing programme in several areas.
On January 5, members of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Margherita, carried out wall writing at around 20 busy locations across the Margherita co-district, marking the formal start of the BJP’s grassroots-level election campaign in the area.
Addressing party workers during the programme, Margherita MLA Bhaskar Sharma expressed confidence ahead of the 2026 Assam Assembly elections and said no political party had the “dare or courage” to defeat the BJP in the state. He said the party had begun full-scale preparations and was ready to reach out to people with its agenda and record of governance.
Leaders and workers from various BJP wings, including the Margherita BJP Sadar, Town Mandal, Mahila Morcha and BJYM, along with senior party leaders, participated in the wall writing drive.
Party leaders said the campaign aimed to strengthen the BJP’s connection with people at the grassroots level and spread awareness about its vision and developmental agenda ahead of the elections.
