Shillong, Jan 8: Legendary German rock band Scorpions are set to make history in India by launching their Coming Home 2026 tour in Shillong, making the Meghalaya capital the first Indian city to host the band. The concert will take place at JN Stadium on April 21, ending a wait of nearly 20 years for Indian fans to see the iconic group perform live in the country.
The decision to open the tour in Shillong reflects the city’s long-standing reputation as India’s rock music hub, known for its passionate fan base and vibrant live music culture. The Shillong concert is being supported by Meghalaya Tourism, with The Circus coming on board as the event partner, highlighting the state’s push to position itself as a destination for major international music events.
Following the Shillong show, the four-city India tour, produced by BookMyShow Live, will move to HUDA Grounds in Delhi-NCR on April 24, NICE Grounds in Bengaluru on April 26, and conclude at Jio Gardens in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex on April 30.
Frontman Klaus Meine said the band is eager to reconnect with Indian audiences after a long gap, noting that the group is excited to finally return and perform for their fans across the country. Guitarist Rudolf Schenker described the India tour as especially meaningful, coming nearly six decades after the band’s formation, and called it a special celebration for both the group and its supporters.
Ticket sales will be rolled out in stages, beginning with an artist pre-sale on January 14 at noon IST, followed by a Kotak Mahindra Bank credit card pre-sale on January 15 at noon. General ticket sales will open at 1 pm IST on January 17, exclusively via BookMyShow.
The tour is part of Bandland On Tour, an initiative under BookMyShow Live’s rock and alternative music platform. BookMyShow Live’s chief business officer for live events, Naman Pugalia, described the Scorpions’ return as a defining moment for rock music in India.
Formed in 1965, Scorpions are among the most successful rock bands in history, with over 120 million records sold worldwide and performances spanning more than 80 countries. Known for timeless anthems such as Rock You Like a Hurricane, Still Loving You and Wind of Change, the band’s India tour gains added significance as it follows the release of what they have hinted may be their final studio album, giving fans a rare chance to witness the group live at a potentially closing chapter of their storied career.
