Mizoram Assembly Budget Session to Begin on February 17

Aizawl, Jan 12: The Budget Session of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly is scheduled to begin on February 17, officials confirmed on Monday. The session will mark an important legislative exercise, including the presentation of the state Budget for the 2026–27 financial year.

According to Additional Secretary of the Assembly Secretariat, Lalthangmawia, the detailed programme of the session is yet to be finalised. He said the Business Advisory Committee (BAC), headed by Speaker Lalbiakzama, will meet shortly to decide the exact dates for key legislative business, including the tabling of the annual Budget.

The BAC will also determine the length of the session, taking into account the volume of official and legislative work proposed during the period. Once the committee concludes its deliberations, the final schedule will be announced.

The upcoming sitting will be the sixth session of the ninth Mizoram Legislative Assembly since the Zoram People’s Movement government, led by Chief Minister Lalduhoma, took office in December 2023.
